About This Stamp

For transcontinental airmail service, the U.S. was divided into three zones and rates were determined by distance flown. Airmail delivery for a one-ounce letter traveling from one zone to the next cost 8 cents, and this Airplane Radiator and Wooden Propellor airmail stamp was issued to meet the demand.
