About This Stamp
The 10-cent violet on gray 1977 stamp of the Americana issue promotes the right to petition. The stamp was issued in both sheet and coil format. The design reproduces James Earle Fraser's statue "Contemplation of Justice" with the wording "People's Right to Petition for Redress." The statue of a seated female figure studying a smaller figure of justice is located at the Supreme Court building in Washington, District of Columbia.
