About This Stamp

Two nondenominated "D" postage stamps in pane, booklet, and coil formats were placed on sale February 1, 1985, in Los Angeles, California.

The value of 22 cents reflected the new first-class postage rate effective February 27, 1985. The "D" postage items were intended for domestic use only.

The stamps were designed by Bradbury Thompson of Riverside, Connecticut, who was also the typographer. Modeler was Frank J. Waslick; engravers were Robert G. Culin, St. (lettering) and Thomas R. Hipschen (vignette). The gravure process was used for the pane stamps and coils, and intaglio for the booklet panes.
