Fort Ticonderoga

This Fort Ticonderoga stamp commemorates the bicentenary of the establishment of Fort Ticonderoga in upstate New York near Lake Champlain. It was built by the French in 1755 during the French and Indian War and was originally named Fort Carillon. The fort was later occupied by both American and British forces during the American Revolutionary War. The stamp features a map of the star fort, a canon with munitions, and a patriot solider.
