Oregon Statehood

The Oregon Statehood stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of Oregon’s admission into statehood. The territory obtained statehood in 1859. The state was created from the Oregon Territory, which was made of land that included the current states of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, as well as parts of Wyoming and Montana. The state’s lines were established by the southern portion of the Columbia River and 46th Parallel, as well as a portion of the Snake River to the east. The stamp depicts a covered wagon, with Mt. Hood in the background.
