About This Stamp

The Postal Service issued the Space Exploration commemorative stamps October 1, 1991, in Pasadena, CA. The 10 stamps feature the nine planets and the Earth's Moon, along with the unmanned spacecraft that had visited each (with the exception of Pluto).

The designer of the stamps was Ron Miller, of Fredericksburg, VA, with art direction and typography by Howard Paine. They were printed in the gravure process at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving and were issued in booklets of 20 (2 panes of 10).
