About This Stamp
Chosen by popular vote in the first ever Stamp Encore contest, the Mister Rogers stamp, originally released in 2018, is new again for 2026. Mister Rogers rose to the top from a pool of 25 past stamp issuances.
Fred Rogers (1928–2003) was the nation’s beloved television neighbor. With sensitivity and honesty, he inspired and educated children through his groundbreaking series, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
In the fondly remembered introduction to each episode, Rogers put on his trademark cardigan and sneakers while singing “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” He gently addressed childhood experiences — everything from sharing and friendship to difficult subjects like anger, fear, and divorce. The program, produced in Pittsburgh between 1968 and 2001, was distributed nationally on PBS.
Today, Rogers remains a cherished figure to generations who grew up in the warm glow of their television neighbor.
The Mister Rogers stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps. These Forever stamps will always be equal to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce price.
