About This Stamp
This Steel Industry stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of the steel industry in America. The industry grew at a rapid rate during the mid-1800s dues to advances in technology and better infrastructure. There was easy availability to iron ore, coal, and manpower. The state of Pennsylvania, including cities like Pittsburgh and Bethlehem, were some of the largest producers of steel. The stamp features an eagle and a pouring ladle.
