About This Stamp
The 100th anniversary of the emigration of Swedish pioneers to the American Midwest was commemorated by a 5-cent blue stamp issued on June 4, 1948. The vignette pictures a Swedish pioneer with a covered wagon moving westward, framed by 12 stars, which represent the 12 midwestern states settled by Swedes.
