About This Stamp

This stamp commemorates the 175th anniversary of the ratification of the United States Bill of Rights, the collective name of the first 10 amendments to the United State Constitution. They provide basic legal protection for individual rights and were introduced to the First United States Congress by James Madison in 1789. The stamp features a design of two hands — “freedom” checking “tyranny” — by editorial cartoonist Herbert Block, also known as Herblock.
