About This Stamp

Whether sending a note of celebration, gratitude, or just to say hi, letting those we care about know that we’re thinking of them affirms our love and affection. These five stamps from the U.S. Postal Service perfectly accompany letters and cards sent to brighten someone’s day.

The pane of 20 stamps features five unique designs filled with a variety of whimsical images, including flowers, balloons, cute animals, sweet treats, and symbols of good luck. Capturing the excitement and delight of receiving a card in the mail meant just for you, each digital illustration uses a cohesive color palette to bring together the disparate icons in the designs. Words of encouragement and thoughtful affirmations surround the stamps on the pane in the same muted tones used throughout the designs. Each greeting is die-cut and self-adhesive for further enhancement of messages and to add a special touch to envelopes.

In good times and bad, checking in on friends and family provides an important connection. A feel-good, handwritten message, no matter the length, can boost spirits and bring relationships closer, despite miles of distance.

Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamps with original artwork by Ellen Surrey.

The Thinking of You stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps. These Forever stamps are always equal to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce price.

His work has been recognized in annual design competitions held by Graphis, AIGA, PRINT magazine, and Communication Arts.

Breeding lives in North Garden, Virginia, with his wife and enjoys nothing so much as frolicking on the floor with his grandchildren.

Stamp Illustrator

Ellen Surrey

The daughter of a Disney animator in Los Angeles, California, Ellen Surrey always knew she wanted to be an artist. After dabbling in various art forms, she decided to focus on illustration, which she studied at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.

As an illustrator, Surrey combines her love of bright colors, mid-century design, and children’s books from the 1950s and 1960s to create nostalgic yet contemporary designs. She has brought her unique and colorful aesthetic to projects for clients that include Google, The New York Times, American Greetings, Sunkist, AMMO Books, and The New Yorker.

Surrey draws inspiration from the illustrations in the Little Golden Books series of classic children’s books. She has recently illustrated several children’s books, including biographies of Dolly Parton and Babe Ruth.

In addition to her freelance work, Surrey also collaborates with the Clover Scouts, an illustration collective in which she and two illustrator friends create products to showcase their art.

Surrey lives in Los Angeles. Thinking of You (2023) is her first project for the Postal Service.
