Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

This Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge stamp commemorates the opening of the bridge connecting the New York City boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. It is a double-decked suspension bridge named for the Florentine explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, who became the first European to enter New York Harbor and the Hudson River.
