New Postcard Stamps Feature Keystone Species
Send a note with one of these vibrant leaves

Join the U.S. Postal Service in celebrating the release of the Vibrant Leaves stamps, featuring colorful leaves from the oak, quaking aspen, maple, sassafras, and sweetgum trees. The stamps are now on sale at the Postal Store.
The new Vibrant Leaves stamps feature leaves from three trees that are considered keystone species — crucial elements of a healthy forest’s functioning ecosystem.
Keystone species provide critical food sources for many types of wildlife and are also important habitats for birds, insects, and mammals.

Oak trees in particular are widely considered to be one of the highest ranked keystone species, supporting over 500 species of moths and butterflies along with thousands of other wildlife species.
“These stamp designs encourage us to take a closer look at our environment,” art director Antonio Alcalá says. “Identifying leaf shapes and colors help us learn about beautiful and important tree species—including the mighty oak!”
