The Postal Store®

On Jan. 21, 2025, the United States Postal Service released new breathtaking 2025 Priority Mail® and Priority Mail Express® stamps featuring imagery from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). These stamps showcase the awe-inspiring beauty of Star Cluster IC 348 and Spiral Galaxy NGC 628 and celebrate humankind’s continuing quest to better understand the cosmos.

The Priority Mail Express® stamp shows Star Cluster IC 348, a stellar nursery located in the Perseus constellation. The vibrant image captures hundreds of young stars shrouded in a glowing nebula, offering astronomers a window into the earliest stages of star formation. It reminds us of the profound mysteries that JWST is uncovering about how stars are born.

The Priority Mail® design features Spiral Galaxy NGC 628, a grand-design spiral galaxy often called the "Phantom Galaxy." Located 32 million light-years from Earth, its enormous arms are viewed by Earth observers nearly face-on. This JWST image reveals intricate details of the galaxy’s star-forming regions, dust lanes, and luminous core, shedding new light on the dynamics of galactic evolution.
